For 105 years Shelta has been Australia’s iconic umbrella brand; not only rain umbrellas but all types of patio, garden, beach and commercial umbrellas as well.
As well as being an umbrella fashion leader Shelta has always been a technical innovator, introducing the first beach umbrellas in the 1920s, telescopic rain umbrellas in the fifties, Auto open in the sixties, Auto open/close in the nineties. Additionally, in the last 20 years totally new super compact Mini and Micro featherlite styles. These convenient and compact products have changed concepts of how umbrellas can be used. Shelta’s UPF25 and 50+ dual use rain/sun protection styles protect from rain, but also damaging U.V, all in the one umbrella.
Shelta takes care to select fabrics that not only look good and protect from the rain, but also provide good sun protection. Many umbrellas in this catalogue carry UPF ratings that confirm this high level of protection.
These are verified by the ARL (Australian Radiation Laboratory).
The most common ratings are:
- UPF 25 96% U.V. protection
- UPF 50 98% U.V. protection
- UPF 50+ above 98% U.V. protection
These ratings are shown on a special swing ticket on the umbrella, also in this brochure and in the price list.
Please handle your umbrella with care; do not use excessive force to open or to close.
Do not use in windy or gusty weather. Please consider others when using your umbrella in a crowded space.
Most importantly, always leave your umbrella open to dry; storing an umbrella while damp will cause mould and/or rust.
